Concerned about Ash Tree #947866

Asked October 29, 2026, 10:59 AM EDT

I have a very large Ash tree that has already dropped all its leaves. It is very early for this to happen for this tree and all the other trees in the neighborhood still have at least 1/2 their leaves. The tree or regularly treated for Ash Borer. Should I be worried that I will lose this tree? The only thing different this year is plantings under the tree in May I have uploaded photos but I am not sure they are coming through

Expert Response

This timing is very normal for ash trees.   They typically lose their leaves earlier than many other species such as maple and oak.

Plantings under shade trees should stay at least 3-6 feet away from the trunk.  Use care to avoid damaging tree roots and plants that compete with the tree for water and nutrients.
