Soil Testing (nutrient and contamination) #947832

Asked October 28, 2026, 3:19 PM EDT

Hi, I'm looking for some information about where I could get some soil tests done. I want to do the standard nutrient level/organic matter/pH/etc soil health test but I'm also looking to find someone to test for heavy metals/contaminates/pollutants.

Hello
MSU does still offer a soil test for nutrients, soil pH, and organic matter. We also fully support the test, including helping you interpret the results and how to use the test. Results are good for 3 years on average.
See details and ordering information here- https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/soil-testing-returns-through-msu-extension

Testing for toxins is done at other labs. We have a bulletin that has information on how to contact some of the labs nearby. There may be others of which we are not aware.
Listing these possibilities does not in any way imply that we have worked with or endorse them; it is simply a starting point in your search.
