Creeping Charlie and Winterizing Lawn #947204

Asked October 16, 2026, 2:51 PM EDT

This year my lawn had a huge growth of creeping charlie for the first time. In getting my lawn ready for the winter, I plan to apply the triclopyr chemical after the first frost and am also planning on using a winterizer ferlitizer on my lawn. Should I avoid doing both at the same time, and if so, what would your recommendation be for spacing application between the two? Thank you.

Expert Response

It's ok to apply both at the same time.   Many winterize lawn fertilizers contain weed killer.

Don't wait any longer to begin controlling the creeping charlie.  More than one herbicide application may be needed.
