I have a pole barn that was erected by the previous owner. The three prong outlets have mud in the 'ground' connection. Now I found the same thing in a air hose that had been hanging in the barn. Is there an insect that could have done this?

Expert Response
A few types of wasps such as mud daubers or potter wasps create their nests from mud. While an electrical outlet is an unusual spot for a nest, it isn't unheard of. These wasp nests can be identified by the shape of the mud. If you have a photo, feel free to reply and attach one.
