Newly Installed Arborvitae Failing #946849
Asked October 09, 2026, 6:22 PM EDT
I had some 7' arborvitae installed on 9/1/26. Within the past couple of weeks they began to display yellowing scales and as of today it appears that the progression is getting worse fast. I wanted to include some photos but it keeps saying my file is too big. Any direction you can give me I will be eternally grateful for.

Given the time frame of your newly planted Arborvitae's foliage changes, I think the most likely expanation is Fall needle drop accentuated by transplanting stress.

Other problems causing foliage changes such as pests or diseases although always possible are much less likely.

Since your trees were so recently "installed" you might check with the landscaper who planted them or the nursery that provided the plants to see if they have had any partcular problems with Arborvitae this Fall.
