Transplant Heptacodium #946797

Asked October 09, 2026, 11:04 AM EDT

Warm hello! :-) I need your thoughts/advise if it’s okay to transplant a 6-7 ft tall x 10 ft wide Heptacodium (7 son Flower) from its 5-6 year spot. If it’s okay, pls give me tips on how to do it to lessen the stress on the plant.

Hello and thank you for your question. Generally early spring or very early fall are the best times to transplant trees and shrubs so that roots can establish well before the harsh winter conditions. Because your shrub is large and established, root loss is almost unavoidable, so even a well-done move may set it back for a season or two.
