Are there companies that can remove and relocate an in-ground bee nest versus exterminating them which is the only option offered to me by a pest company.

No, Yellowjackets (which are wasps, not bees) cannot be relocated. They also only use the nest for one year, and it will be abandoned later this fall, with all colony members having left (if they are queens) or died (all the others) by winter. They do not re-use nests from year to year. If you're interested, you can learn more on our Social Wasps web page, but the only options if a social wasp nest cannot be ignored or left alone for the few more weeks it will remain active is to have it removed, which usually involves pesticide use. Some pest control professionals might be able to vacuum them up to kill them while wearing sting-resistant clothing (like a beekeeper's suit), but we don't have information about which businesses/persons those may be (it's probably a rare practice).
