Expert Response

Dear Patty,

Thank you for contacting the UNH Extension Infoline.

It looks like a stinkhorn.  You didn't mention the odor, but typically the cap smells rather putrid which attracts flies that carry the spores elsewhere. After a day or two, the mushrooms collapse, and after a week, they should be gone.

I lost my sense of smell, but hubby noticed it. Thanks so much for yr quick response….now that I know how to get these to you!!  Haha!!

Hi Patty,

You're very welcome! So many unique mushrooms out there!

Second link: I just tried to open it on my end and it worked. Any chance you can try to open it again?
