Ash tree treatment #942728

Asked August 17, 2026, 9:11 PM EDT

I had a tree trimming co. out to look at cutting some dead branches out of my ash tree. He said if it was him, he would leave it and treat it instead. He found one spot where he knew it was an emerald ash borer hole. I just want to extend the life of my tree because I have squirrels nests and birds nests in it. I know that is corny....but I love watching them. Is there someone you know who treats these trees?

Expert Response

Hello! Not corny at all. I can totally relate to being attached to my trees and creatures that live in them. I've attached a list of area arborists that might be able to help you treat the trees. And here are a couple extension publications about treating trees with insecticide.
