We don't see any wood splitting (bark cracks by themselves are not necessarily a problem), but it's hard to tell from the photos if it's present but just hard to see. The prominent raised junction between a branch and the trunk (or a larger branch) is called the branch-bark ridge, and it's more pronounced in some tree species than others. A wide branch angle of attachment (closer to 90 degrees) to the trunk is more sturdy than a narrow angle of attachment. That said, Silver Maples to have a reputation for being more prone to storm breakage due in part to their rapid growth rate.

Any assessment of a tree's stability and health, especially for a tree this size, should be done by a certified arborist or licensed tree expert who can evaluate the tree in person. An arborist with TRAQ certification (tree risk assessment qualification) has extra training when it comes to determining a fall risk or how structurally compromised a tree might be).

The branch appears to be larger (in diameter) than what is ideal for the maximum branch girth in comparison to trunk girth, but we defer to an arborist's assessment, although there's nothing that can be done about that at this point. Arborists can't cure or treat every condition if a tree is ailing, but they can help to narrow-down a diagnosis (and make a prognosis) as well as look for sources of tree stress that might be able to be alleviated.
