The wild plant wondering what it is. I tried to pull it out of the ground but got a sharp needle stick in my finger. I was wearing latex gloves and it hurt bad.
Also what kind of tree is this?

We can't identify the plant growing up against the fence without more photos showing the leaf arrangement, growth habit, stem characteristics (if it is thorny), and leaf shape.
We also can't see enough detail in the tree's foliage to positively ID it, but based on what we can make out, it appears to be either a Baldcypress (Taxodium distichum) or Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides).
