Truck Damage on Young June Bride Dogwood #942133

Asked August 11, 2026, 11:15 AM EDT

I am considering purchasing this tree, it had damage probably 2 years ago and has been in the nursery ever since. I "think" the damage has healed over good and the leaves and canopy look great. I have read conflicting info on if this tree would have further issues, it will be in a location where it can be watered regularly. I was wondering if it is worth taking the risk and purchasing it.

The canopy does look good, and the trunk appears to have healed over, but as you mentioned, there can be internal damage to the vascular system that could cause issues down the road. You won't know that until that side of the tree begins to fail. If you are getting the tree at a significant discount, then you could take the chance but in general, I would recommend starting with problem free trees because you are planning for them to be in your landscape for a long time.
