Hydrangea paniculata growing oddly #941869

Asked August 08, 2026, 11:57 AM EDT

What could be the reason for my hydrangea paniculata to grow so oddly this year? It's about 6-8 years old, and we pruned it back last fall the same way we do every other year. The stems are so tall, and it seems the leaves won't stay opened up. it looks like the branches are glued down flat!

Your hydrangea looks stressed and needs water. Even at 6 years old, they still need a lot of water Being in the sun during this hot, dry summer has really stressed the.

When watering, water slow and deep so that the roots reach down for the water. This will help them during a drought. Water early in the morning, if you can, otherwise later in the evening.
