Montgomery County, Maryland (USDA Zone 7a/7b) has a longer, warmer growing season than many northern climates, so you can grow quite a bit. Right now (late July/early August) is actually the perfect time to start a fall vegetable garden. You can plant: Bush beans (quick maturing) Beets Carrots Cucumbers (for a fall crop) Kale Lettuce Mustard greens Radishes Spinach (starting in August) Swiss chard Turnips Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts from transplants You can also sow another crop of zucchini or summer squash if you choose fast-maturing varieties. Also, here is a link to the info sheet from the UnMD on vegetable planting times. https://extension.umd.edu/resource/when-plant-vegetables/ Good luck Len
