This is my first time growing a peony plant. It initially bloomed and I assumed it would continue to bloom. However after one blooming period it looks like the pods are dormaint. Can you provide some guidance on how I should care for the peony plant? Will it bloom again?

The pods pictured are seed pods, not flower buds. Peonies only flower for a fairly brief period in spring, so it's been done blooming for the year since the flowers faded a few months ago. Most perennials follow this pattern of having a limited flowering window of time, although perennials regrow and bloom each year, unlike annuals that bloom for much longer but require replanting every year. The linked University of Wisconsin web page about growing peonies may be helpful, as might pages from Iowa State and the Chicago Botanic Garden. Although the Iowa page is geared towards gardening in that area, it will generally apply to Maryland as well.
