Thank you for your question about pruning your maple tree branch in July.

Here in Central Oregon, Spring (March-April) is a good time to do structural pruning on a plant, as it is easier to see the branch pattern without the leaves. In general, Spring is recommended, however, pruning can be done anytime during the growing season through September if the tree is not a conifer. To reduce heat stress for the tree, consider pruning early in the morning when temperatures are cooler.
