I’m growing an eggplant in a big pot on my sunny balcony. It has big leaves, but all the flowers fall off without setting any eggplants. What does it need?

First, your plant looks healthy. There are several reasons why your blossoms drop off. 1. First, they may not be getting pollinated. Pollinators may not get to your plant on the balcony. Take Q-tip/cotton swab or brush and move the yellow pollen to the center of the blossom. Try this first! 2. When it gets too hot, especially on balconies, pollination will NOT work and the blossoms drop off. A little afternoon shade may help. This is true for other vegetables like tomatoes. 3. Be sure to keep the plant watered. When in containers on a balcony, plants tend to quickly dry out and drop blossoms when under stress. Feel the soil with your finger about 3-4" down... Water deeply, if needed. 4. If you fertilize, use one labelled for vegetables to encourage flower retention. I hope this helps. Len
