Sun Requirements for Japanese Forest Grass 'All Gold' #938919

Asked July 11, 2026, 12:04 PM EDT

I would like to plant Japanese Forest Grass 'All Gold' in a section of my garden that is all shade in the morning and direct sun in the afternoon starting around 2:00 pm. I'm concerned there will be too much direct sun for it, but I'm getting conflicting advice from local garden centers and nurseries versus my Google searches. I can keep it consistently watered, but I want it to be able thrive, not burn to a crisp. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Expert Response

It manages morning sun well but direst afternoon sun will probably be too hot for it. I would try 1 plant and see if it is ok.
