Mowing in my back yard and saw this on some wild vine growing on my fence.

Your photograph looks to me like a spotted lanternfly nymph.  The links below are research-based sources that will give you illustrations and discussion on identification and best practices.  This insect is invasive and very damaging, and should be destroyed if found.
