I planted a bee lawn in November 2024. This is my second full season and there are a lot of flowers this year.
There's a lot - a LOT - of white clover (makes the yard look a bit unkempt).
Also a lot of self-heal, but not nearly as much as the white clover.
The mix I used has creeping thyme in it (0.40%) but I don't see any,
Are there any other flowering varieties I can add to my bee lawn to mix up the color? Something yellow or colors other than white or purple would be nice.
Thanks so much! - jay gee

Expert Response
Thank you for reaching out. Here are a few other plants you can add.
common blue violet (Viola sororia): A native, early-spring nectar source and host plant for butterflies.
Ground plum (Astragalus crassicarpus): A low-growing, native, drought-tolerant prairie plant.
Lancelot coreopsis(Coreopsis lanceolata): Native yellow-flowering plant that tolerates poor soil.
Prairie Pussytoes (Antennaria campestris): A low-growing native that supports native bees.
You could also add more creeping thyme. I hope this helps.
