Angular leaf spot? #937244

Asked June 29, 2026, 5:08 PM EDT

My cucumber plant has issues. I've been researching and it seems like it is angular leaf spot. I'm getting a sense from this site is that there really isn't anything that can be done because it comes from the seed. Is that the case? I used the same seeds from last year. Can I start fresh plants with new seeds and plant them where the others were or will the disease still be there? I don't really have an additional spot and would like to have some cucumbers! I appreciate any information you could provide.

Expert Response

The leaf damage shown in the photo does indicate the presence of angular leaf spot.

The bacteria might have been introduced via cucumber seeds or carried over in the soil from  debris associated with infected cucurbits previously  grown nearby.

If you replant, purchase seed of resistant cucumber varieties noted in the following publications.

Plant in a new location or try growing in containers using fresh potting medium.
