Property/Lawn Restoration #937154

Hello, is there someone in the Sturgis area that could advise my mother on lawn restoration and maintenance? She is widowed and having difficulty managing the 16 acre property. I live in MS so am not able to help much. I think she needs a plan to restore health to the property and then a “how to” on maintenance. Thanks so much!

Hi Julie,

I'm based in Brookings and am not familiar with lawn-care companies in that area, but it's possible that my Rapid City colleague is.  His name is Nick Volesky and his email is <personal data hidden>. As part of Extension we're not able to provide specific recommendations for one company over another though. 

Due to the size of the property, the local USDA/NRCS office may be able to provide some technical assistance and recommendations though.  I've linked the contact info.  https://www.habitatcan.org/local-resources/Meade-County-Farm-Service-Agency/63562/

To receive assistance, there is some paperwork to fill out through the Farm Service Agency, but then someone can come out and do a site visit and provide guidance on different programs that might be available.
