Hackberry tree gall #934219

Asked June 04, 2026, 3:58 PM EDT

We have a hackberry tree that annually has a ton of galls on the leaves. I read that this is not an issue, but there are a lot of them. The leaves look really unhealthy. Should this be treated somehow? Is the tree unhealthy and needs to be removed?

Expert Response

They do look like a problem but they don’t hurt the tree. Your tree appears to have lots of leaves and good leaf color. Try galls really aren’t harming your tree.
