Odd flat wide stem from spirea #934063

My spirea has one odd stem (the rest are normal) It is flat & about 1” wide. Can you help me identify?

This phenomena is called “fasciation.” Just remove the odd growth so it does not interfere with the rest of the plant. See the website for details.
