Hello.
Weeds in a lawn are inevitable, and the increase you’ve experienced this year could be due to many factors: temperature fluctuations, soil conditions, soil composition, conditions last autumn, precipitation amounts, insects, underground creatures, and more. I’m guessing a combination of factors is at work on your lawn this spring. You might appreciate the U of M’s Caring for Lawns and Landscapes in Minnesota page. I consult it often for tips on caring for our yard. You could also sign up to receive the Lawn Care Newsletter from the Turfgrass Science department. The relevant topics are interesting and helpful when managing issues like what you are experiencing.
Sincerely,
Julie
