Hello,
We have laying hens, and recently bought some ducklings to add to our flock. We were recommended starting the ducklings on Purina's Flock Raiser, and then transitioning all of our chickens and ducks to that when they can all go out together. Our laying hens are currently on Purina Layena Crumbles and seem to be doing well.
Does Flock Raiser have all of the necessary nutrients needed for laying hens and laying ducks? Is it suitable for ducklings as well? What nutrients should I be looking for in a duckling/duck feed in general? Thank you!

The main difference in these feeds is the crude protein, calcium and fiber. Adult chickens do not need 20% protein. The 16% crude protein in the layena crumble is adequate. However, the layena crumble is not labeled for ducks so it would be preferable to separate them and feed the crumble to the chickens and the flock raiser to the ducks. If running them together is the goal than use the flock raiser as it is labeled for ducks and chickens. Additionally, I would have oyster shell free choice supplement available. Ducks also require more niacin (vitamin B3) than chickens. There is added niacin in the flock raiser making it the correct choice.
