My viburnum Shasta seems to be ill. There are several branches which are dying, and the flowers don't open.
You will have an idea on the photo I forward.
Thank you, if you have an idea of this illness, and how I can save it.

Has the shrub been watered at any point this spring? If not, it's probably due to drought stress, either directly (the roots are getting too dry, and expanding leaves and flowers requires ample root moisture) or indirectly (drought stress and other environmental factors can predispose shrubs to opportunistic infections like Botryosphaeria canker). Most of Maryland has been in a drought for the better part of the past two years, and the severity of the drought has been increasing again in recent weeks. This week's rain will help a little, but is nowhere near enough to put a big dent in the rain deficit. Doublefile Viburnums prefer soil with fairly consistent moisture levels and they have limited tolerance for getting too dry. You can find watering guidance on our Watering Trees and Shrubs page.
If there are any branches with poor leaf growth or no leaf growth, they can be pruned off. Doublefile Viburnum can contract root rot and certain wilt diseases when they stay too wet, but unless you've been watering excessively or the shrub is growing next to saturated soil, that's not likely in this case, nor do we see symptoms of that kind of dieback in the photo.
