Pear tree #930619

Asked May 04, 2026, 8:30 PM EDT

I have a pear tree that had bark protection left on. I too it off the tree today. Should I do anything to protect it? I live in Scott County.

Scott County Minnesota

Expert Response

There isn’t any treatment. Trees can survive without their outer bark.
Making sure your tree doesn't suffer from water stress this year will help it survive. Make sure your tree gets about an inch or 5 gallons of water per week. Always test the soil moisture before watering. Don’t water unless the soil is dry at a depth of 2 inches. Soggy soil is worse than dry soil.
