Cherry Tree Lacking blossoms #930372

I planted a montmorency cherry tree 7 years ago. It has grown well but does not flower, I understand that the tree may need to be older before it starts to produce but how long. It came from Gertens and was and still is heathy. Do I need to test the soil or something else to encourage blossoming and fruit production?

A Montmorency cherry tree usually blooms within 3 - 5 years. The lack of flowers may be due to too much nitrogen which favors leaves over buds, not enough sunlight, or late-spring frosts killing the buds before they open. Testing your soil and switching to a phosphorus-rich fertilizer may help. For more information, see https://extension.umn.edu/fruit/growing-stone-fruits-home-garden
