Asked May 01, 2026, 11:20 AM EDT

Diagnosed positive for mites/ jointed leg specimen that patient brought from home . Patient (myself) never received medical treatment in a timely manner. Patient never received proper treatment. Has turned into infestation over the course of almost four years leaving her with pin dot holes oozing yellow green pusd, severe swelling with heat, redness, pain, crustation, Hospitalizations twice going on third. Iv Antibiotics are not effective. Doctor gave three different iv antibiotics, none effective until fourth one. Legs (calf's being worse) are worse than ever requiring antibiotics and hospitalization again. Patient is at the point of needing mites professionally diagnosed /biopsies before health declines to the point of death. Patient has been to several different doctors , dermatologist and not one has thoroughly examined her skin . Patient begging for doctors to exam but they all decline . They will not look an any specimens brought in or any photographs. Patient has been denied proper treatment last four years resulting in the infection of her entire body and new home. Patient has samples to bring for biopsies or any can be found on her body. PLEASE HELP

Expert Response

Hello Kimberly,

I am so sorry to hear about your situation.

The Extension office can perhaps be of very limited assistance to you; many counties are equipped to help identify arthropods.  Of the several photos in your three submitted messages here, including the photos from the microscope, none are of arthropods (that is, no photos include mites, or parts of mites or insects or similar organisms).

Some Extension offices are equipped to identify arthropods and could accept samples of arthropods to identify--you can call your county office directly if you'd like to bring or send samples.  Please note that the Extension office will not accept samples of human tissue or body fluids, nor will the staff attempt to capture live specimens or conduct any medical exam of any sort. Arthropod samples must be in sealed containers.

Your residence county here is indicated as Douglas.  If this is correct, you can reach the county office at<personal data hidden>.
