Thank you for contacting 'ask extension' with you question about purchasing home soil test kits. At home testing can give you a general idea about your soil. But results can be skewed if the reagent is out of date. For more accurate and detailed analysis, we recommend you mail in samples to a soil testing lab.
The Master Gardeners help desk at the Benton County Extension office will provide a pH test on your soil at no charge. But we only conduct pH testing.
The extension office is open for soil drop off M-F (9am -4pm)

- Here are some test labs that provide garden packages for home gardeners:
- Simply Soil Testing (just for gardens & landscapes) https://www.simplysoiltesting.com/
- A & L Western Labs (garden packages but also serves commercial farmers) https://allabswest.wordpress.com/
- Western Laboratories, Inc. (garden packages but also serves commercial farmers) https://westernlaboratories.com/
- Farm and garden stores in your area may sell mail-in kits (check places like Wilco, Home Depot etc.) These kits have everything you need to take a sample and mail it in a pre-addressed package. They advertise a quick turnaround.
