Vancouveria-hexandra ‘Randy’s Evergreen' #929677

Asked April 26, 2026, 2:33 PM EDT

Just how wide does this groundcover get? I see online, anywhere from 12-72 inches, that is a BIG difference! Will it do well under Portuguese Laurel canopy on NW side of house?

Jackson County Oregon

Expert Response

Vancouveria hexandra (White Inside-Out Flower) is widely described as a slow to moderate spreading groundcover that spreads via underground rhizomes to form mats over time. While it is not considered aggressive or invasive, it will gradually fill in spaces in shady, woodland gardens. While it is a vigorous grower once established, it is generally considered a slow-to-moderate spreader rather than an aggressive, invasive "bully". It would take many years to reach 72 inches spread.
