Sungold cherry tomato plants get at least four to six feet tall, so it may not be an appropriate plant for a smaller raised container. The minimum container size for a tomato like this is probably a five-gallon pot, about 12-15 inches tall and at least a foot across. Any container should have drainage holes.

One way to test if the plant needs water is to stick a finger into the soil. If it’s dry an inch or so down, you need to water. At the height of summer you’ll probably need to water every day. If you water irregularly the tomatoes start to crack.
If your container isn’t large and you still want to use it for a tomato look for a patio tomato. They’re intended to be grown in pots.
