Cedar Apple Rust Resistant UMN Apple Varieties #929474

Hi! I would like to plant about 15 apple trees this year but the space I have available is approximately 100 yards from red and white cedars. Of the available UMN apple varieties, can you please make a recommendation for 1-2 early, mid, and late season apple varieties that are resistant to cedar apple rust? Thank you!

Hi Daniel,

I’m afraid the list of resistant trees isn’t long. Note that on the University of Minnesota website below, it says trees aren’t usually badly affected unless they lose all their leaves. The only trees that shouldn’t be planted near cedar trees are Beacon and Wealthy.
