Lichen Overgrowth Soil, grass, & on small rocks #929468

Asked April 24, 2026, 10:56 AM EDT

Hello, I have searched the web, and AI is giving conflicting info on products to use. I have lichen taking over in my hosta beds (in the soil), on the outside of the bed borders which is choking out the grass, and also, growing on small landscaping rocks. Please let me know what products are safe for different areas.

Expert Response

According to experts at Penn State University, sprays containing copper salts can be used to remove lichens in the garden.
