Expert Response

Hello Chris,

I assume you are referring to a soil test report from a test you had done.

Can you please let me know the MSU Soil Test Report Code for that soil test? Or send me a copy of that soil test report.

Thank you!

Hello again, Chris

From the Fertilizer Calculator:

Based on 1 lb. N/1000 ft.²

4.55 lbs of fertilizer to apply 1 lb. N/1000 ft.²

1 lbs of K2O per 1000 ft.² applied

If you get the NPK 22-0-22 fertilizer (which you say is available):

Use Example 1 (Option 1) from your soil test

You need to use 16 pounds of NPK 22-0-22 fertilizer as indicated below:

Manufactured Fertilizer: Apply 22-0-22 fertilizer at 10.67 pounds per 1000 sq ft before planting and till it into the soil. Make a second application of 22-0-22 fertilizer at 5.33 pounds per 1000 sq ft 3 weeks after plants emerge and till in between the rows.

Option 1 Characteristics: More readily available for plant uptake, a more concentrated form of nutrients, and generally less expensive per pound of fertilizer nutrient.

I hope this helps!
