I have dug up several large hostas and want to replant them at our cabin. However we are not going to go there for a month-is there a way to keep them that long?

They will hold nicely if you put them in a temporary hole, or a pot, or in a compost heap. Their roots do better with protection and the roots will be harmed if they freeze. Nighttime temperatures can fluctuate a lot this time of year. Keeping the on the northside or a shady spot in your yard would also improve their survival chances.
