caladium bulbs #929212

Asked April 22, 2026, 10:51 AM EDT

Hello. I have a handful of different caladium bulbs that I harvested last fall. When is it okay to re-plant them? They're all going in containers. I'm not sure if I should start them inside, or what I should do. Thanks!

Expert Response

Thank you for reaching out. Because you're planting these bulbs in pots, you could plant them at any time. I would either keep in the house in a warm sunny space or if you have a place outside that would be protected, but still get the sun that would work. If the weather's going to get down to freezing, then I would pull them in.  Once the threat of frost is done (mid May), go ahead and leave them out.
