Thank you for this service!!
I’m looking to plant some evergreens in my yard in Hopkins to provide screen of unsightly trash cans and road. Area is shaded and I know most evergreens prefer sun. If I purchase a more mature larger evergreen will it survive in shade but just not grow further? I don’t need anything real Tall, just 3-4 feet or so. I know yews and some other variety can handle some shade. Soil test shows pretty average soil, and not particularly wet or dry.
Again THANK YOU!!

While a tall evergreen might survive in mostly shade, it likely would lose some of its needles and branches, limiting its ability to act as a screen. Your best bet is to find a yew (Hicks or Citation varieties would serve your purpose) or dwarf variety of an Eastern hemlock - they are dense and will do well in shade. For more information on shrubs, trees and evergreens that can handle some shade, see https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/trees-and-shrubs-suitable-partial-shade
