Weeping Norway Pine #928842

Asked April 18, 2026, 7:11 PM EDT

Sure hope you can help. We have a weeping Norway pine outside our kitchen window (facing west) that has been struggling for years. Last year I reached out to Kathy at Fruitbasket/Flowerland for advice. With photos sent, she determined the tree has spider mites. She recommended specific measures to treat with Bioadvanced and feed with Holly-tone. After following her directions the tree looks even worse this year. Another friend from Clark’s Nursery recommended that I reach out to you for advice. HELP!

Expert Response

Hello
Would you give us a few more details, please?
About how long has it been planted in that spot?
What type soil- clay, sandy;  wet or dry?
When did you treat with insecticide and what exactly product did you use( helpful to know what active ingredients were in the product- the exact name and type of product we can look that up).
When did you fertilize?
How much and how often do you water in spring, summer, fall? When did you stop watering last fall?

All this will help us determine how much stress the tree has experienced in the past. Stressed trees are more often attacked by insects and spider mites, and fall victim to other issues.
