Mulberry tree splitting #928797

Asked April 18, 2026, 12:14 PM EDT

We have a large Mulberry Tree in our yard that provides shade and we would like to save it, if possible. It has developed a crack in the trunk. We need help in finding best solution. I have attached pictures.

Expert Response

Determining how to remedy or support a cracked tree is something best left to a certified arborist or licensed tree expert, as we do not have that level of expertise in safety assessment and load-bearing wood-stabilizing options. Plants can't heal the way we do, so the damage from such injuries can't be reversed, but sometimes limbs or trunks can be bolted in such a way that helps the wood avoid breaking given the compromised structural integrity.
