Hire A Master Gardener #928670

Asked April 17, 2026, 9:40 AM EDT

Good morning. I work for the City of Lake Elmo and was inquiring if there are Master Gardeners that contract work on the side for municipalities a couple times a month for plant bed maintenance and upkeep during then growing season. I ask this because when I worked for White Bear Township Public Works, we had a Master Gardener that had a contract to take care of the Township plant beds like every other week during the growing season. Maybe this was unique and she did this, but I thought I would inquire. There is a total of 6 beds in downtown Lake Elmo and I do not know the sizes of the top of my head. Respectfully, Pete Tholen Public Works Director

Washington County Minnesota

Expert Response

Peter, Thanks for the inquiry. UMN Extension Master Gardeners are volunteers so not for hire as a Master Gardner. However, many have a side busy as was your previous experience, e.g. landscaping, flower arranging, a greenhouse as a few examples.

Master Gardeners are knowledgeable and have interest in gardening so you may find someone that lives in Lake Elmo or close by. I suggest you contact the Washington County Master Gardener group directly to inquire if there is someone interested in your contract work .
