Thank you for contacting UNH Extension Infoline.
I attach a link showing the Extension's recommendation for perennials that grow well in northern New England.
I would note that you did not indicate the garden area for the plants.
Attached are some examples of native and non native perennial plants for particular areas.
Full sun : Salvia, Russian Sage, Catmint and Daylilies
Shade: Hellebores, Bleeding heart and Coral Bells
Groundcover: Hardy Geraniums and native ferns.
At this time of year many towns have local garden club plant sales and they are often a good source for your garden.
The extension also has a listing of were to obtain ,any native perennials in the area, should you be interested in native perennials.
Native Plants (Updated 3/26)
One of the best sources to learn about New England native plants is Native Plant Trust, one of the country's first plant conservation organizations. They have created a very useful Garden Plant Finder (see link below) where you can specify growing conditions and plant characteristics in order to find suitable plants for your garden conditions.

Native Plant Trust Plants: plants are for sale at Garden in the Woods and Nasami Farm, both in Massachusetts.
More places to purchase native plants in New Hampshire:
(This list is not comprehensive, just places that we know sell native plants in the state)
· Bagley Pond Perennials in Warner, NH.
· The New Hampshire State Forest Nursery in Boscawen, NH; catalogs go out in the winter and they are open mid-April though mid-May.
· Found Well Farm in Pembroke, NH
· Kathan Gardens in Newport,
NHFassett Farm Nursery, Jaffrey, NH
The Wild Seed Project in North Yarmouth, Maine is another good resource, although not located in NH. They are a non-profit organization that sells seeds and provides education to the public about native plants.
I hope this helps.
