Cherry laurel leaf browning #927762

Asked April 07, 2026, 4:55 PM EDT

What can I do about the problem. For many leaves dying back(turning brown) from tips. The bush is maybe 10 or so years old (or more) and maybe 8+ feet tall

Hi.  Horticulturally you don't need to do anything.  The plant will survive and the affected leaves will eventually fall off.  You can cut off  the most affected leaves to enhance appearance if you want.

This damage, called winter burn or desiccation, was likely caused by the severe winter we just had, and, to a degree, is unavoidable.  But you can help protect the plant from future bad winters by installing a good layer of mulch in the fall.  And, of course, it's useful to mulch over the summer too to help retain mositure and to protect the roots from excessive heat.
