Home planted tomatoes yellowing #927671

Asked April 06, 2026, 3:12 PM EDT

Hi I started some tomato seeds inside under a grow lamp. Some of my plants have yellowing leaves on the bottom branches. Is this a soil deficiency or a disease? Any thoughts? Thanks

Expert Response

Hi Robert, thank you for using Ask Extension.

Without a little more information it would be hard to determine the problem.  A picture of your setup would be very helpful.  A good well focused closeup picture of one plant would also be beneficial.  The type of medium, any fertilizer used, watering practices, light type (specs if you have them).  Usually in these situations, overwatering is the culprit.  Seed leaves will go yellow, also.

I look forward to your response.
