I had a large pine tree take a direct lightning hit on 4/2/26. The tree is probably 110 feet tall and the damage extends from the base to about 40feet up. The gash is about 6 inches wide and there's tree shrapnel all over and up to 30 feet away. Is there any saving this wonderful tree?? Thank you so much for any help you can provide. #927436

Hello there!
It's best to have an arborist evaluate the tree onsite. If the tree does not look like it is damaged enough to become a hazard (i.e. might fall on your roof), this is a wait-and-see situation. It's advised to wait a full growing season to see the extent to which the tree will repair itself. The arborist may also be needed to remove any dead or damaged branches that are inaccessible from the ground.
