How To help Save Rhododendron trees Suffering from Azalea Lace Flies. #927178

Asked March 31, 2026, 2:07 PM EDT

I have several rhododendron trees and during the past couple of years they have all started to get a build up of brown powdery residue on the underside of their leaves and little nat like looking winged creatures on the top sides. The leaves have started to curl and fold up around edges I asked around and it's though to be an azalea lace fly infestation. Last year a tree had no new leaves or new growth and it then died. This appears to be spreading to the other rhododendron trees and the one in closest proximity to the tree that died now appears to be severely struggling with it's curled up leaves. Are their recommendations for trying prevent azalea lace flies or to help the remaining rhododendrons survive?
