Hi, do you have any advice for how to care for this Mugo Pine? We planted it two summers ago and some of the branches don't look healthy. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out! Did this just start happening this spring? If so, it might be damage from this winter. There are some good tips in these articles on how to protect your tree in the winter:

1. https://extension.umn.edu/planting-and-growing-guides/protecting-trees-and-shrubs-winter

2. https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/winter-burn/

Alternatively, do you notice any spots on the needles? It is hard to tell from the photos, but if so, it might be a form of needle blight. I'd recommend raking up the dead needles and disposing of them, just in case it is a disease. Let us know if you do notice these spots, and we can provide additional advice.

I hope this helps!
