Cedar waxwings or robins? #926799

Asked March 26, 2026, 10:45 AM EDT

I was encouraged to contact you to potentially help me find out what type of bird is in the attached photos. The flock was in February in our front yard in Northfield, MN. At first I thought the birds were robins, but now I’m thinking they might have been cedar waxwings. The tree is a flowering crab apple with a lot of berries on it. A flock of dozens of birds swooped down on the tree and began eating the berries all at once. Are you able to identify if they are robins or cedar waxwings? Thank you!

Expert Response

Hi Caroline,

The first photo is taken from too far away and I can’t load the other two photos because of the format. Can you try to send in jpeg format, as the first photo is?

Thanks.
