Ground covers for under trees.. #926477

I have several areas when even grass won't grow. Several large established trees and some hard rocky areas.. what type of plants could I use to fill in those areas? These areas are mostly full sun exposure..

Hello

Lawns can be difficult to get started in some areas. Sometimes the soil becomes very compacted and must be worked to break up the top layer so seeds can establish roots. When planting in sun daily watering is needed.  Have you had the area in question soil tested? It could be a matter of needing certain nutrients. Your local extension should be able to assist with a test. There is a small fee, but the report offers a lot of great information. If you want to try to fill in the bare spots it would be worth considering using native plants that are already adapted to Ohio.
